Bold 9700 OS6 Review
Unless you are living in a cave, you know that RIM's OS6 for the Blackberry Bold 9700 leaked this week, after a long and agonizing wait that seemed like forever to us 9700 users. OS6 has been marketed like crazy alongside the Torch and it has certainly been a long time coming for 9700 users who were left unsure whether they would ever see this OS for their device. Although it may only be skin deep, for most individuals that's good enough. While reading this review please keep in mind that I am going directly from OS5 to OS6 so like everyone else this is a new experience to me and these are my honest opinions.
From the home screen the differences seem minimal. However, I will attempt to take you through a guided tour of this new OS and bring light to the things that I have noticed different so far....
THE GOOD
The biggest change I noticed right away was that this operating system is slick. Speed, transitions, icons, and just the overall look and feel have been improved. The device seems much faster. Switching between apps is easier and faster than ever with the new and improved app-switcher view. Closing, opening, and scrolling in apps looks cleaner with the implementation of fading transitions similar to apple's iOS.
The overall look to this operating system is solid. In my opinion, nearly everything about it looks better. Lines are crisper, transitions are smoother, menus are easier to maneuver through, icons are "fresher", and re-tooled core applications function as good as ever.
The biggest change among applications happen to be in multimedia, as Blackberry is trying to show that it can be a legitimate music player in addition to a reliable mobile device. As a matter of fact, it has been for me for the past 6 months. Obviously the blackberry alternative is not as vibrant and expansive as Apple's rich multimedia experience, but it does the job well and now it looks good doing it. The camera and video recorder share the same function as before but both offer more room and are easier to use.
Another obvious addition is the WebKit browser. It is a change many have been waiting for a long time to get. Upon finally getting it, my first impression was....... It is good. Not great, but good. It's not going to have you jumping for joy like you hoped it would but definitely is better than past Blackberry browsers. Perhaps more importantly, it leaves a lot of room for improvement as it has much potential. There are now tabs (thank god), it renders faster in most cases, looks cleaner, and the 'go to..' Bar has been changed to make it more efficient in a smaller amount of room. Overall, the new WebKit browser still doesn't provide what I would call an enjoyable browsing experience but it is a step in the right direction.
THE BAD
The biggest issue I've found myself dealing with is that of the new menu which features main, favorites, media, downloads, and frequently used panes. The additional menus will prove helpful for those with an excess of icons, but seeing as I don't have that problem, I find myself mistakenly going to where I don't want to go. Scrolling from menu to menu to search bar to connections, etc. I have found that sometimes it's hard to actually go where you desire on the first try.
In addition, I personally find the new search bar useless. I have never needed to search for anything on any phone. Why start now? The highlight for this is that you can directly search Youtube, Google, and other applications you may have. Only time will tell if RIM finds a useful way to integrate this function.
Although many of the points I make above are positive, the fact remains that the OS6 update is skin deep. And that is the problem: almost everything is redefined and looks great, but almost nothing is actually changed. Did you notice this?
There are very few completely new functions. And at this point in the game, with RIM seemingly falling off, they can't just lay down and make refreshes to make their OS look pretty. Sure the Blackberry Fan Boy may love it, but I am not sure the general public will look at their Blackberry any differently once OS6 is loaded on it. Is that acceptable?
THE VERDICT
Plain and simple: If you have a 9700 (or any of the other devices that recently saw OS6 leaks) I can't see why you shouldn't load this OS on your device. It takes an already great operating system and makes it look beautiful. Sure, there are sure to be bugs and glitches in the early builds, but this is expected. If you can put up with them I suggest giving it a try. Only time will tell how far RIM takes this OS, or rather how far this OS takes RIM, but for now download it and enjoy life a little bit more.
If you already have downloaded and installed this OS recently and agree or disagree with our review? Tell us about your experience below!

3 Easy Ways To Detect BlackBerry Spyware On Your Phone
BlackBerry spyware can give someone access to all of your SMS mesagges, call history, e-mail, GPS location, BlackBerry Messenger chats, and even give them the power to secretly listen in on your live cell talks.
The good news though is that BlackBerry spyware can be detected and removed. If you believe you have BlackBerry spyware installed on your cell, you should take your cell phone to your service center and have them reformat it. This is the only real way to really remove it.
So how does one know if someone has installed BlackBerry spyware on your cell? Here are three easy ways to find out.
Where Is My Charger?
Is your BlackBerry's battery lifespan all of a sudden a lot shorter than the usual quantity of hours? Depending on the type of BlackBerry cell spyware, your BlackBerry might experience a considerable quantity of unusual battery drain.
Can I Borrow Your Phone?
Someone has recently asked to borrow your BlackBerry to make a quick call or to quickly download a ring tone or something similar such as a game. 99.9% of all cell spy software needs a person to get physical access to the cell phone in order to install the spy phone software.
Peculiar Sounds?
High end BlackBerry mobile phone spyware has features that enable someone to tap your BlackBerry cell phone. However, when this feature is in use, it will occasionally make a noise when you're talking on it. This means if you hear strange sounds while on a call, then this could be a sure sign that you have BlackBerry spyware on your phone.
In summary, although BlackBerry spyware does exist, and it's getting extremely powerful, there are easy ways to detect it and ultimately remove it.

Introducing the.... BlackBerry® PlayBook
The rumored Blackberry tablet has finally arrived, and in a big way! Welcome to the scene, Blackberry PlayBook!
RIM Founder and Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis announced the new tablet device at DEVCON earlier today in San Francisco, CA. During the presentation Mike held a PlayBook in his hands and welcomed to the stage guests such as the founder of QNX Dan Dodge and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen to specifically talk about the tight integration QNX and Adobe will have with the PlayBook.
Here is the introduction that they provided to the PlayBook at DEVCON:
This bad boy is packing some SERIOUS specs. With a 7-inch hi-res (1024 x 600, WSVGA) widescreen display (multi-touch), being 9.7 mm thick, and weighing less than a pound, this device is ultra-portable and is slightly smaller than an iPad. The device will have a 1 GHz dual-core (with symmetrical multiprocessing capabilities) processor, and 1 GB RAM to allow fo full optimization of that dual core. The Playbook will come with Flash 10.1 (including hardware accelerated video), HTML 5, and support 1080p video. Some other intriguing parts of the PlayBook puzzle include non-proprietary HDMI and USB connections, full-HD front and rear-facing cameras (3 MP front facing, 5 MP rear facing), as well as support for dual-displays. Even more exciting for corporate users, it will be able to connect with BlackBerry Enterprise Servers out of the box via Bluetooth secure pairing to BlackBerry. Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) is included and RIM plans to roll out 3G and 4G models in the near future.
I have to say that I was extremely surprised, and impressed to say the least, by those specs. RIM had to go above and beyond the iPad to avoid the "Copy Cat" tag, and that they did!
Perhaps the most exciting part of this is how heavily involved QNS was in the creation of this device and that Blackberry is FINALLY adopting a new OS! What this means for the mobile users here is yet to be seen, but I can only imagine good things!
The Blackberry PlayBook is expected to be available in retail outlets and through other channels in the United States in early 2011 with roll outs in international markets beginning in Q2 of 2011.
More information as it becomes available. Who wants a PlayBook?!

Leaked: BlackBerry® Bold 9700 OS 5.0.0.938

It has felt like an eternity for any OS love for those with a BlackBerry Bold 9700. Now OS 5.0.0.938 has dropped, which is a fairly decent step up from the last OS 5.0.0.862! We've also been told that this could possibly be the last OS 5 release before we see OS 6 for the 9700.

Hybrid vs Official OS
If you're Blackberry works fine before the hybrid, and you get an invalid SIM afterwards, that could be the problem.
If you've got sometime to play around, I would suggest trying the hybrid install again, without shrinking anything out of the OS. Ensure the vendor.xml has been deleted. Also, try out the capabilities of the Blackberry prior to restoring your backup. I know without the backup restored, you will not having any service books. Resend them to your device via BIS (through the internet) or Email Settings (through the app on your device).

How to wipe my blackberry device (Hybrid installation)
Step 1:
Security wipe is done by using your BB. Go to options, security options, security wipe, and check the first 2 options but the media card (unless you want it to) and type "blackberry" and click wipe.
Step 2:
After you have wiped your device, plug your device to your PC and use BBSAK to wipe it again.
Once you see the error message on your device, you can now load the new OS as you normally do.
I hope this help to those who are confused about wiping your device.

BlackBerry® Smartphone bukan ancaman

Masalah trackpad Blackberry 8520 Gemini
Saya baru mengalaminya semalam. Kunun2 mau mau upgred hybrid gemini kazen sy. Last2 bila dah selesai, trackpad tidak bgerak langsung *sigh*... Dr pukul 7pm hingga 12am masih lagi 'hang'. Dah banyak kali try reinstall os lama, os baru mahupun os hybrid trackpad tetap x jalan.
Terpaksa bagi dia pakai onyx sy sementara bb dia dibaiki (satu pengorbanan yg sungguh perit!! Hahahaha)
Rupa2nya penyelesaiannya sungguh mudah!!
Punca trackpad 'hang':
1) Bb pernah terjatuh
2) Memang masalah os
Penyelesaian:
1) Buka bateri
2) Buka simkad & korang akan nampak metal d bb tu
3) Tekan kuat2 disepanjang metal tu
4) Masukkan simkad & bateri
5) Siap!! :d
Selamat mencuba... :)
